2025 KJCCC Cross Country Runners of the Week - Week 9
COLBY, Kan. – Individual winners of the 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Cross Country Championship races last Friday in Colby, Hutchinson Community College cross country runners Mildred Rono and Cornelius Kogo have earned the final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honors in 2025.
Mildred Rono (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Hutchinson freshman Mildred Rono became the second-straight Blue Dragon women's cross country runner to capture the Region 6 championship. Rono was running in a tightly-knit lead pack of five runners through three kilometers. With two kilometers to go, Rono broke away from the pack and was never challenged again. Posting a time of 17:10.69, Rono won the race by 45.80 seconds. Rono's time was the second-fastest Region 6 time in Blue Dragon history. The win was Rono's third of her freshman season.
Cornelius Kogo (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Hutchinson Community College sophomore Cornelius Kogo became the fourth Blue Dragon to win the Region 6 individual championship. He posted a winning time of 24:17.77. This was Kogo’s second career race victory as a Blue Dragon. Kogo was one of three Blue Dragon runners to place in the Top 10 and help the Blue Dragons win a second-straight team championship.
