KJCCC Volleyball Continues To Show Well In NJCAA Weekly Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – A week after having five teams ranked in the top six of the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 volleyball polls, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference continues to make an argument as the best NJCAA volleyball conference with four teams now ranked in the top five and seven total teams ranked or receiving votes in the week two NJCAA volleyball polls.
Among the seven teams ranked or receiving votes are five teams that are ranked or receiving votes in this week’s NJCAA Division 2 volleyball poll which includes three of the top five teams. The winning streak that started the season at 81 consecutive matches for top-ranked Cowley to start the season has now reached 87 straight matches as the Tigers earned a 3-0 sweep in their lone match last week to improve to 6-0 and remain the unanimous number one team in the poll.
Also sporting an unbeaten record is number two ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College as the Blue Devils are a perfect 9-0 this year and continue to hold the number two ranking in the poll despite seeing new teams ranked number three and number four from the week prior. Johnson County Community College held steady at number five in the latest poll while seeing Neosho County fall from number 17 down to number 20 following a four-set defeat to the Cavaliers last week as part of a busy six-match week. Off to a 13-2 start to the season, Highland Community College joins the list of three teams just outside the top 25 receiving votes as the Scotties went 4-1 last week with their lone loss coming to number 12 ranked Mesa Community College.
Putting together a perfect 5-0 week last week, Barton Community College moves up two spots to number three in the latest NJCAA Division 1 volleyball poll as the top five saw major shuffling following results from around the country. Two of Barton’s five wins last week came against top 15 teams, as BCC now sports a 13-2 overall record with their two losses coming to the number one and number 19 ranked teams. Meanwhile, a light week for Colby Community College led to a one-spot drop for the Trojans despite winning all six sets played last week with wins over Garden City and Cloud County.
This coming week will feature another 43 matches for conference schools, as conference play will continue on and be on the schedule for three of the upcoming five days of action. Elsewhere, non-conference tournament action will see teams playing throughout the Jayhawk State as well as Amarillo, Texas, and Sterling, Colorado.
