KJCCC Volleyball Back Up To Seven Ranked Teams In Latest NJCAA Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Upsets of top 10-ranked Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams have led to changes and additions for conference schools to the final NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 volleyball polls of the month of September.
For the fourth time this season, seven KJCCC schools are ranked in the NJCAA rankings with two top 15 teams in the Division 1 poll and five of the 25 ranked teams in the latest NJCAA Division 2 rankings. All six teams that were ranked last week remain ranked this week, while Allen makes its way into the poll for the first time after receiving votes two weeks ago.
Looking more deeply into the Division 2 Top 25 poll, Cowley and Kansas City Kansas continue what appears to be a collision course between the two unbeaten teams on October 22 as the Tiger are ranked number one with a with an 18-0 record while KCKCC is ranked number two with a 16-0 record. Johnson County falls four spots down to number nine after suffering a five-set defeat to Allen Community College on the road last Wednesday in their only match of the week while Neosho County remains ranked number 17 following a 3-2 week last week that was capped off with a five-set win over number 14 Des Moines Area Community College. Allen joins the group with the number 24 ranking, sporting a 14-4 overall record.
Last week’s battle of top two teams in the KJCCC D1 volleyball standings had a direct effect on the latest NJCAA Division 1 rankings as Colby bested Barton in five sets, leading to the Trojans moving up one spot to number 11 in this week’s poll. The Cougars, meanwhile, fall four spots down to number 12 after suffering their fifth defeat of the season before bouncing back with a four-set road win at Garden City.
Things do not slow down at all this week as six of the seven ranked teams will be in action on Wednesday night to kick off the month of October, with all six teams playing conference foes. Eight more matches will then take place on Friday afternoon and evening before a Saturday slate with nine more matches throughout the conference to set up the final three weeks of the regular season.
