Little Change Within NJCAA Volleyball Rankings Lead To Just One Change Among KJCCC Schools
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – NJCAA volleyball rankings are beginning to solidify with few changes taking place throughout either the Division 1 or Division 2 polls as only one of six ranked teams from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference saw a change to their ranking from the prior week.
Just like the previous week, four of the six ranked teams from the KJCCC hold spots in the top 10 of their respective rankings, including three of the top five in the latest NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll. The six ranked teams from the KJCCC currently hold a collective record of 81-17 and an 18-2 mark in conference play with two of the 17 losses coming against one another.
Maintaining their rankings in the latest NJCAA Division 2 rankings were top-ranked Cowley (13-0), number two-ranked Kansas City Kansas (15-0), and number five-ranked Johnson County (13-4) as the trio managed to go 12-1 last week, with the lone loss coming by the fifth-ranked Cavaliers to the top-ranked Tigers. The lone change for KJCCC schools came from Neosho County, which used a 3-0 week last week with wins over Seminole State, Pratt, and Fort Scott to move up one spot to number 17.
A much slower week for KJCCC D1 volleyball ranked teams saw Barton hold their number eight ranking after being idle all week ahead of three conference matches this week while Colby maintained its number 12 ranking with wins over Dodge City and Butler last week to improve to 13-4 overall. The Cougars are 3-0 in KJCCC D1 play while the Trojans are a conference-best 5-0 in KJCCC action with the potential for a battle for first-place in the KJCCC coming on Wednesday evening in Colby.
As has been the case throughout the season, another busy week is in store across the conference, beginning on Monday with three matches taking place. Nine matches are scheduled for Wednesday between conference schools followed by 31 additional matches between Thursday and Saturday. In addition to the top 15 showdown in NJCAA D1 play Barton and Colby on Wednesday, D2 number two Kansas City Kansas will travel to number 17 Neosho County on Wednesday night. Other matchups between ranked teams include D2 number 1 Cowley hosting number 21 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and number 17 Neosho County taking on number nine Iowa Central on Friday afternoon.
