KJCCC Volleyball Place Four Teams Ranked Inside Top 10 Of Week Nine NJCAA Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – A logjam of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools in the latest NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball top-25 poll sees three conference schools ranked in the top five and six schools in total from the KJCCC ranked in the Week 9 NJCAA volleyball polls.
Both teams from the conference that are ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 top 20 poll are unchanged from last week while shuffling occurred among the teams from the KJCCC ranked in the top 10 of the Division 2 top 25 poll after last week’s action.
After climbing back up to the number two ranking last week, Cowley College drops back two spots to number four in this week’s poll as the Tigers suffered their first home loss since October 4, 2022 when the Tigers dropped a five-set thriller to Kansas City Kansas Community College last Wednesday night. Prior to the defeat, the last loss inside W.S. Scott Auditorium for Cowley was a non-conference matchup to Butler Community College in five sets while the last conference home loss for the Tigers also came during the 2022 season in a five-set loss to Johnson County. The loss to KCKCC snapped a 53-match home winning streak for Cowley while the Blue Devils used the win in their lone match last week to move up two spots to number five in this week’s poll. Unchanged at number six is Johnson County following a pair of wins last week at home while Neosho County used a four-set road win at Coffeyville to move back up three spots to number 14 in this week’s poll.
Neither KJCCC school team ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 top 20 poll saw changes to their rankings this week as Barton remained number six after taking over putting themselves in a position to win an outright KJCCC D1 volleyball title later this week, following a home sweep of Pratt and a five-set victory over number 13 ranked Colby. The Trojans, meanwhile, were not penalized by voters for their road loss at Barton following a home sweep of Butler Community College as Colby will conclude their regular season Wednesday night at Pratt.
The final week of the regular season is here as both KJCCC D1 and KJCCC D2 teams will finish out their schedules ahead of the postseason this week. Kicking off the week is a pair of Monday matches highlighted by KJCCC D1 leader Barton traveling to Seward County before seeing nine matches between ranked teams take place on Wednesday evening. The final day of the regular season will come on Saturday, November 1st, with postseason seeding being released early next week.
