KJCCC Volleyball Teams See Changes To NJCAA Rankings For Second-Straight Week
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – For the second-straight week, results from the previous week’s action has led to changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 volleyball rankings released on Monday, October 20th.
With teams moving up and down based on their previous week’s results, five teams are ranked in this week’s polls, with two teams representing the conference in the Division 1 top 20 poll and three more teams ranked in the Division 2 Top 25 poll.
Following their drop from the number one ranking in the Division 2 poll last week, Cowley College gained one spot back in the newest rankings following a 3-1 week that included a win over number 15-ranked Des Moines Area Community College, to now sit at number two in the poll behind the newest number one team, Kirkwood Community College. Moving up two spots from number eight to number six is Johnson County Community College as the Cavaliers after earning a four-set home victory over Kansas City Kansas in their lone match of the week last week. KCKCC, which went 2-2 last week, fell two spots down to number seven as the Blue Devils dropped matches to Johnson County and Kirkwood Community College while defeating Des Moines Area Community College and North Iowa Area Community College. Also ranked from the KJCCC in the latest D2 poll is Neosho County, falling three spots to number 17 after earning three wins across five matches with losses to North Iowa Area and Kirkwood.
Picking up a home sweep over Butler in their lone match of the week last week, Barton Community College regains its spot as the highest-ranked KJCCC team in the latest NJCAA D1 volleyball poll with the Cougars moving up four spots to number six after seeing upsets in other regions of the country leading to teams falling in the rankings. Colby, which dropped its first KJCCC match of the season last Wednesday at Seward County, fell from number nine down to number 13 as the Trojans bounced back with a road win at Dodge City to move to 20-5 overall.
Ranked matches inside the conference for both D1 and D2 play are set to have big roles in the conference standings as Kansas City Kansas will travel to Cowley on Wednesday night for a top-10 showdown in KJCCC D2 volleyball, while Colby is at Barton on Saturday evening for a battle for first-place in the KJCCC D1 volleyball standings. In total, 19 matches are scheduled across the conference this week as the schedule begins to wind down ahead of postseason play next month.
