Changes Highlight Latest NJCAA Volleyball Polls With Six Ranked KJCCC Teams
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – A week full of change within the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 volleyball rankings has occurred as results throughout the country last week have led to shakeup and change across the country.
Featured in the week seven rankings are six Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams, in addition to a seventh KJCCC school receiving votes for the first time since the week 1 poll.
The biggest shakeup occurred within the NJCAA Division 2 Top 25 poll as only one top 10 team from last week holds the same ranking as last week, which includes a trio of KJCCC teams. After having their 104-match winning streak snapped over the weekend, Cowley College falls two spots to number three in this week’s poll following a 2-2 record this past weekend at the Heartland Community College Invitational. Kansas City Kansas Community College, which also played in the Heartland CC Invitational, fell three spots down to fifth following a 1-3 weekend in Normal, Illinois while Johnson County Community College remained number eight and holds an 18-7 overall record. The lone KJCCC Division 2 volleyball team to move up in the rankings is Neosho County Community College, with the Panthers moving up two spots to number 14 after falling to Cowley in four sets in their only match of the week.
Following two weeks with the same rankings, both Colby Community College and Barton Community College moved up in the NJCAA Division 1 Top 20 poll as each team moved up two spots to number nine and number 10, respectively. The Trojans went 2-0 last week with wins over Cloud County and Hutchinson while Barton picked up wins over Seward County and Dodge City. Winners of five straight matches, Butler Community College has made their way back into those “receiving votes” after earning a five-set victory at Dodge City in their lone match of the week last week to improve to 15-8 overall.
Things are once again jam-packed throughout the week as 37 matches are scheduled to take place throughout the league beginning on Wednesday evening to kick off the week. A top 10 battle between number five Kansas City Kansas and number eight Johnson County highlights Wednesday evening’s schedule followed by multiple ranked matchups throughout the weekend. Butler will host D1 number 20 Iowa Western as part of a Friday triangular in El Dorado while both Cowley and Kansas City Kansas will take on D2 number two Kirkwood Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Friday. Saturday will feature additional ranked matchups, with both Cowley and KCKCC taking on D2 number 15 Des Moines Area Community College while Neosho County will take on D2 number two Kirkwood as part of a busy weekend at the Iowa Central Community College Triton Invitational Tournament.
