2025 KJCCC D2 Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – For the second time in the first three weeks of the season, the Johnson County Community College volleyball team has swept the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Player of the Week awards, with Ava Esser, Campbell Chabot, and Carlie Martin all picking up week three honors.
Ava Esser (Johnson County) - KJCCC D2 Volleyball Player of the Week
Freshman Ava Esser helped lead Johnson County to a 3-1 week, tallying 64 kills while hitting an impressive .392 over the four matches. Esser posted a night for the ages, recording a remarkable 31 kills to set the Johnson County record for kills in a match and lead the number five-ranked Cavaliers to a four-set victory at number 17 Neosho County on Wednesday in both teams' KJCCC opener. Esser's final stat line for the night was 31 kills, on 52 attacks for a .500 kill percentage, five blocks, and four digs. In KJCCC history, Esser became just the 14th player all-time to have 30-plus kills. The 31 kills also marked the most by any NJCAA D2 player in a match this season. Esser went on and added 33 more kills in three matches at Kirkwood Community College over the weekend that included double-digit efforts in sweeps over Sauk Valley (13) and Southeastern (15). Esser currently leads the KJCCC in total kills with 159 and ranks second in kills per set at 3.98.
Campbell Chabot (Johnson County) – KJCCC D2 Volleyball Setter of the Week
Chabot continued her stellar play in leading the Johnson County offense with 123 total assists over four matches, for a 9.46 per set average. Beginning the week with 39 assists in a 3-1 road victory over number 17 Neosho County, Chabot followed with 31 and 30 assists in sweeps over Sauk Valley and Southeastern before posting 23 assists in a loss to number four-ranked Kirkwood. Chabot currently leads the conference with 402 total assists, ranking fourth among all NJCAA D2 volleyball players.
Carlie Martin (Johnson County) – KJCCC D2 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Reigning NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Player of the Week Carlie Martin was again a defensive force for Johnson County Community College by tallying 74 digs over four matches and helping the number five-ranked Cavaliers to a 3-1 record. Martin opened the week by racking up a season-high 29 digs in a 3-1 win at number 17 Neosho County in both teams' KJCCC opener. Over the weekend at the Kirkwood Community College Tournament, Martin recorded 20 digs in a sweep over Sauk Valley, 15 in a sweep over Southeastern, and 10 in a loss to number four-ranked Kirkwood. Martin has finished in double figures in digs in all 12 matches this season and currently stands second in the conference with 211 total digs.
