KJCCC - I Volleyball Players of the Week, Week 3, 2015
Playing in her first collegiate action this week, Seward County freshman Viviane Viana showed now fear going up against some of the top teams in the country. Viana averaged 2.93 digs and 0.47 blocks per set for the Lady Saints, but it is what she did in serve/receive that was most impressive. In 95 chances on the week, Viana had just one reception error, passing an average of 2.47. In the Lady Saints final three matches of the weekend against Yavapai, Central Arizona and Lee, Viana was served at a total of 63 times without a single reception error.
In a tough fought match vs. Colby on 8/31, Mari Silva, Pratt, hit .600 with it being her first time in that hitting percentage range with double digit attempts, and only one shy of double digit kills. Silva performed as an all around player while adding a whopping 7 aces off of 22 attempts vs. Colby. She also added 1 block solo and 3 block assists, including the ending block assist point for PCC in the third set to tie off the win vs. Colby. Silva contributed in every aspect of the game on Monday night to help the beavers to a 3-0 win over Colby that now adds to their 2-0 conference record.
