Going up against a potent Colby attack in her first ever Jayhawk West match, freshman Kimberly Diaz, Seward County showed no fear on Seward's backline Wednesday, pulling up 18 digs and also adding a pair of clutch aces to help lead the Lady Saints to the five set win.

Just when it looked like the Seward County Lady Saints were dead in the water in their Jayhawk West opener Wednesday night at Colby, sophomore Alex Wood came to the rescue.  After just two kills in the first two sets, Wood caught fire, hammering down five kills in the third set and then eight in the fourth to help Seward tie the match before willing them to the win in the fifth.  Also contributing on defense and at the service line, Wood finished the win with eight digs and three big aces for the Lady Saints
