NEOSHO COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WRESTLING
By Aaron Sweazy
Neosho County wrestling traveled south to take on the 14th ranked NAIA Stars of Oklahoma City University and lost to the host team by a 32-7 margin. The dual started at 197 with Neosho giving up a fall before a decision loss followed at heavyweight. Derek Steeley then put the Panthers on the board by posting his 12 victory of the year (10th by bonus) to upend his opponent. The Panthers at this point were only down 9-4 on the scoreboard, but over the course of the next several matches OCU would widen the margin by 23 points in picking up 2 major decisions and 1 fall as well as 3 decisions to frustrate the visiting Panther team and go up 32-4. Ralph Manous was finally able to stop the Stars with a 10-7 victory giving Neosho some points on the board, but it was too little to late for the team as they fell to 1-3 in duals on the year by a final of 32-7. Neosho is next at the Kaufmann Brand Open in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, November 21st at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
