January 15, 2008 - Panthers THUMP Four Year Bacone
10th ranked Neosho County put on a thumping of the 4 year NAIA member Bacone College’s varsity line-up. The Panthers started the night with a bang getting back to back falls from Rory Kendall and Jeremy Lawley before Ty Jaquess scored a methodical 11-5 victory over his foe to bring the team score to 15-0 after just 3 matches. Dustin Burton then came out and had a 5-1 lead midway through the 2nd period before sticking his foe as well and giving the Panthers more cushion in the team score. Ken Carney ranked 5th in the nation met a stubborn opponent but managed to score five nearfall points, 4 takedowns, and 3 escapes in a scrappy 16-9 victory. Drakkar Klose was in a match that was so heated that his opponent lost composure and swung a punch, landing Drakkar the win by disqualification earning 6 points for the team, as well as resulting in 1 team point being deducted from the Bacone bench. Back to back falls then happened again on the night for the hungry Panther mob as Jason Green and Sam Robbins took command with thunderous 1st period pins. It was then at Heavyweight where Bacone finally ended up on the scoreboard in the positive side as Neosho freshman Christian Wintons was beat narrowly 3-2. Donte Butler at 125 got a much needed night of rest to end the dual with a forfeit win, and when it was all said and done, the Panthers prevailed mightily.
