Cowley Finishes KJCCC Wrestling Slate Unbeaten, Wins Conference Title For First Time Since 2020
COLBY, Kan. – For the first time since 2020, the Cowley College wrestling team has won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference wrestling regular season title, following a perfect 7-0 dual record in conference duals this season.
Capping off an unbeaten dual record with on Thursday, February 5th with a 52-0 win over Neosho County and 41-9 win over Barton, the Tigers rolled through the conference slate and had only one dual decided by 10 points or fewer while outscoring opponents 262-92.
Finishing second in the KJCCC regular season was Pratt as the Beavers finished with a 6-1 record after seeing their lone dual defeat in conference come to Cowley while easily winning all of their remaining six conference duals. Following Pratt was Labette with a 5-2 record, followed by Cloud County (4-3), Colby (3-4), Fort Hays Tech Northwest (2-5), Barton (1-6), and Neosho County (0-7).
All eight conference teams will now set their sights on the postseason, which begins on Saturday, February 14th when Pratt Community College will host the 2026 NJCAA South Central District Wrestling Championships. Joining the eight teams from the KJCCC will be NJCAA Region 2 representatives Carl Albert State College, Murray State College, Northeast Oklahoma A&M, and Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. Action will get underway from the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena at 9 AM with three mats of action taking place throughout the day to determine qualifiers from all 10 weight classes for the 2026 NJCAA Wrestling Championships.
