Dodge City Women's Golf Wins NJCAA Plains District Tournament, Punches Ticket To National Tournament
GERING, Neb. – The Dodge City Community College women’s golf team has won their second-straight NJCAA Plains District Tournament Title, winning the six-team event hosted April 28-29 at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering, Nebraska.
As a team, Dodge City shot a two-round total of 645 (+69) to beat out North Idaho College of NJCAA Region 18 who shot a total of 661 (+85). The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference also claimed the third-place team with Garden City shooting a 672 (+96) team score while Central Wyoming (707, +131), Barton (708, +132), and Eastern Wyoming College (729, +153) made up the rest of the six-team field.
Individually, the Conquistadors had the top two individual finishers with Gaemphuang Ketrahong (151 total, +7) winning medalist honors by one-stroke over teammate Summer Griffiths (152, +8). Other KJCCC golfers to finish in the top 10 individually include Fernanda Rodriguez (Garden City, 160) who tied for fourth, Ellen Wilson (Dodge City, 163) who finished eighth, and the duo of Heewon Pak (Dodge City) and Chomchanok Laparojkit (Barton) who both finished tied for ninth with a two-round total of 165.
With the NJCAA Region 6 and Plains District Title, Dodge City has qualified for the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Golf National Tournament. The National Tournament is being hosted in Southwest Kansas at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas, and will take place May 12-15.
