KJCCC Leaders Johnson County, Butler Continue To Hold Top Two Rankings In NJCAA Women's Basketball Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 13 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 13 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – As the NJCAA women’s basketball regular season begins to wind down, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has five teams that have positioned themselves for a strong finish by holding national rankings in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s Basketball Top 25 polls.
After seeing the conference have five teams ranked last week for the first time since January 6th, the KJCCC once again has a trio of teams ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 top 25 poll, joined by a pair of teams in the latest NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll, as three of the five teams hold top 10 rankings. The only changes for teams from the league in this week’s polls come as a direct result of a top 20 matchup last week that saw Hutchinson knock off Dodge City, as four of the five ranked teams went unbeaten last week.
Due to the aforementioned Hutchinson win over Dodge City, the Blue Dragons were the lone KJCCC team to improve their ranking from the week prior as HCC moved up two spots to number 17 this week after asserting themselves as one of the top teams in the conference and still in the conversation for a top-two finish. Dodge City, meanwhile, saw its road defeat at Hutchinson followed by a dominant home win over Pratt to limit their drop in the polls to two spots down to number eight, while Butler Community College remains number two in the poll after winning at Independence and at home against Seward County.
Continuing their run of wins by double-digits with a 26-point win at Kansas City Kansas, and a 31-point home win over Labette, Johnson County saw no change to their number one ranking in the NJCAA Division 2 poll after running their record to a perfect 27-0. Also picking up a pair of conference wins last week to remain ranked number 25 was Neosho County, with the Panthers earning victories over Labette and Fort Scott to sit just 1.5 games back of Johnson County and in the KJCCC standings and in firm control of the number two spot in the standings.
With just four conference dates remaining in KJCCC Division 2 play and five across the KJCCC Division 1 regular season schedule, games become amplified as teams contend for conference tournament seeding over the coming two weeks of play. Wednesday night will feature a 10-game slate with four of the five ranked teams hosting games on their home courts. The biggest game of the night is set to take place in Chanute when Neosho County hosts Allen in a battle for second in the KJCCC Division 2 standings before seeing four ranked teams face road tests on Saturday. Games of note on Saturday’s schedule include Johnson County hosting Neosho County in a ranked battle of Division 2 teams, while Dodge City travels to face archrival Garden City, and Hutchinson heads to Coffeyville looking to avenge an earlier season loss.
