Strong Play By KJCCC Leaders Rewarded In Latest NJCAA Women's Basketball Polls

CHARLOTTE, NC – A strong week of results from the top teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference have been rewarded in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s Basketball Top 25 polls as three of this week’s four ranked teams improved their ranking from last week’s polls.
Among the four ranked teams are three teams ranked in the top 10 of their respective polls, with the fourth ranked inside the top 20 and a fifth team just outside the top 25 and receiving votes. The four ranked teams this week combined to go 8-0 last week, with seven of the eight wins coming by double-digits over conference opponents.
The biggest mover in this week’s polls is Butler Community College following a pair of road wins at Cloud County and Colby to improve to 17-1 overall this season, while extending their winning streak to eight-straight games to move up three spots into the top 10 for the first time this season at number eight. Making a one-spot jump back into the top three is Dodge City Community College following a road victory at Independence before taking care of business at home against Seward County to remain in a tie for first in the KJCCC standings at 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the KJCCC. A two-spot move up the rankings also occurred for Hutchinson Community College to number 18 following wins at Pratt and at home over Fort Hays Tech Northwes,t while Coffeyville earned wins Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Garden City at home to remain just outside the rankings and receiving votes at 15-3 overall.
Two more wins for reigning National Champion Johnson County Community College allowed the Cavaliers to improve to 20-0 following a pair of wins to open KJCCC play as JCCC defeated Highland on the road before returning home for a win over previously ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College. The Cavaliers are one of three remaining unbeaten teams this season, and the only team thus far to reach the 20-win mark to be the unanimously ranked number one team.
This week’s action will kick off tomorrow with nine games scheduled across the league as the second round of home-and-home action will begin for KJCCC Division 1 schools, highlighted by Coffeyville traveling to Butler for a key game within the standings. Seven more games are currently scheduled for Saturday, including Butler traveling to Hutchinson for a ranked afternoon matchup before the week closes out on Sunday with a pair of games taking place when Seward County travels to Colby and Dodge City travels to Cowley for 1 PM tip-offs.
