NJCAA Women's Basketball Week Eight Rankings Released With Six KJCCC Teams Ranked
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 8 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 8 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Following a battle of the top two teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference D1 women’s basketball standings last week, the latest NJCAA Women’s Basketball top 25 polls have been released with minor movement occurring based on last week’s results.
In total this week, six teams from the KJCCC are ranked or receiving votes as both KJCCC Division 2 teams ranked this week are unchanged from last week while all four teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest Division 1 poll from the conference saw changes to their rankings.
For the first time this season, Dodge City dropped a game with a 72-58 loss at Butler ending their week after a 67-60 home win over Garden City as the Conquistadors are now 14-1 overall and fall from number one down to number four in this week’s rankings. DC3 had moved their way up from the number four preseason ranking up to number one in the week two poll where they spent six weeks atop the rankings. With the win over Dodge City, Butler moves up three spots to number 11 with a 15-1 overall record as the Grizzlies also earned a 64-54 home win over Cowley last week. In their lone game last week, Hutchinson fell at home to Coffeyville which moved the Blue Dragons down three spots to number 20 in this week’s poll while the Red Ravens are back among those receiving votes followed up their road victory at Hutchinson with a road win at Pratt to move into a tie for third in the KJCCC standings.
Finishing off a perfect unbeaten non-conference schedule to improve to 18-0 ahead of conference play, Johnson County remains number one in the country as defending National Champions while outscoring opponents by an average of 52 points per game. Also holding their same ranking as the previous week, Kansas City Kansas Community College is ranked number 15 after being idle ahead of their KJCCC opener at home on Wednesday night with an 11-4 overall record.
Conference play begins at the Division 2 level on Wednesday night as eight games are on the schedule highlighted by KCKCC hosting Allen Community College in a battle of two teams towards the top of the KJCCC D2 standings. Thursday will have a standalone game between Fort Hays Tech Northwest traveling across the state to Coffeyville before seeing 10 games on the schedule on Saturday that is highlighted by Garden City traveling to Coffeyville while Johnson County will play host to a top 15 cross-metro battle with Kansas City Kansas.
