KJCCC Women's Hoops Teams Hold Number One Ranking In Latest NJCAA D1, D2 Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 2 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 2 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Key shakeups have led to newly looking NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s Basketball Top 25 polls, including the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference having teams hold down the top spot in both of the week two polls released on Monday, November 17th.
Included in this week’s polls are seven ranked teams from the KJCCC, with four conference schools now ranked in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Top 25, while three KJCCC teams are ranked inside the NJCAA Division 2 Top 25 poll.
Just a week removed from making a two-spot jump from number four up to number two, Dodge City has ascended to the top of the NJCAA Division 1 rankings following a following a 5-0 start to the season coupled with a loss for defending National Champion Northwest Florida State which fell four spots down to number five. The Conquistadors had no issue picking up two wins in Laramie, Wyoming by defeating Trinidad State 94-47 and Laramie County 86-45 to close out their non-conference schedule. Holding steady with the number 14 ranking is Butler Community College as the Grizzlies moved to 5-0 on the season while Hutchinson picked back up one spot to climb to number 18 with home wins over Murray State College and Otero College last weekend. Making their first appearance in the NJCAA Division 1 Top 25 poll this season, Coffeyville is ranked 24 this week after closing out non-conference play 6-0 and prepares for a ranked matchup with Butler on Wednesday night.
Not much change for KJCCC schools occurred in the latest NJCAA Division 2 Top 25 poll as Johnson County continues to hold the top spot with a 7-0 record, the best mark of any ranked NJCAA Division 2 team this week. Allen Community College picked up two wins last week to move up one spot to number nine, while Kansas City Kansas Community College dropped two spots from 17 down to number 19 after splitting home games with Metropolitan (100-52 win) and Kankakee (74-65 loss) over the weekend to go along with a mid-week home win over North Arkansas College.
Conference play gets underway for all 13 KJCCC D1 women’s teams this week, including a 6-game Wednesday for schools that will be highlighted by a ranked battle between Butler and Coffeyville inside Nellis Hall. Hutchinson will host Garden City and Dodge City will travel to Barton, while remaining conference games on Wednesday night will feature Independence traveling to Colby and Seward County traveling to Cloud County. As for D2 action this week, 11 games will take place across the conference which includes a battle for KCKCC against NJCAA D1 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, who is receiving votes in the latest Top 25 poll.
