2025-26 KJCCC Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 12
COLBY, Kan. – Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference leaders Butler Community College and Johnson County Community College both put together 3-0 weeks last week and were led by the Week 12 Players of the Week Mya Mayberry and Layla Scott.
Mya Mayberry – Butler (KJCCC Division 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Butler sophomore and Wichita, Kansas native Mya Mayberry had an impressive week for the number four-ranked Grizzlies, including a career night against number 18 Hutchinson. In the Grizzlies 56-52 win at Hutchinson, Mayberry accounted for a career best 36 points on 12 of 17 shooting, going eight for 11 from three. 22 of Mayberry's 36 points came in the second half, with 16 in the third quarter alone. Two days later, in a 100-40 win over Pratt, Mayberry again put up impressive numbers by finishing with 16 points on four of seven shooting, all from behind the arc. Mayberry also contributed with three rebounds and six assists in the victory. On Saturday at Fort Hays Tech Northwest, Mayberry scored double figures for the third time in six days, this time finishing with 11 points. Over the three-game stretch, Mayberry was also dominant on the defensive end, averaging 2.7 steals per game.
Layla Scott – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Layla Scott helped lead the top-ranked Cavaliers to three double-digit victories in KJCCC play last week. The sophomore guard averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals for the week, with JCCC defeating Fort Scot and Neosho County on the road before earning a home win over Allen. Scott also made six three-point baskets to push her career total to 202, making her just the fifth player in conference history to make 200 3-point baskets.
