Johnson County, KCKCC Make Incremental Moves Up NJCAA Division 2 Softball Rankings
NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 7 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – A lighter week of action across the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference softball slate due to weather and a holiday weekend has led to minimal change for conference schools inside the latest NJCAA Division 2 Softball Top 25 rankings released on Monday, April 6th.
With just 18 games taking place last week throughout the Division 2 landscape, both Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College put together perfect weeks to move up one spot each in the latest rankings as the Cavaliers are up to number 14 and the Blue Devils are up to number 23 in this week’s poll. JCCC played just two games last week, taking a road doubleheader over Cowley College by scores of 14-0 (5 innings) and 12-6 while the Blue Devils picked up a road doubleheader sweep over Moberly Area Community College in non-conference play before sweeping Fort Scott Community College on the road for their fifth-straight victory.
A busy week across the league is scheduled to begin today as Independence Community College will take on Metropolitan Community College on Monday ahead of a 12-game Tuesday that will see Cloud County and Neosho County play a conference doubleheader that was postponed last week while Labette will take on Butler in KJCCC cross-division play as part of a non-conference doubleheader. Wednesday has eight games on the slate across the KJCCC Division 1 landscape, with Hutchinson traveling to Seward County, Dodge City playing at Garden City, Colby making the trip west to Fort Hays Tech Northwest, and Pratt taking on Barton before seeing the schedule shift to Division 2 play on Thursday 12 games on the schedule as part of five conference doubleheaders. Friday currently has no games on the schedule before seeing Saturday set for 20 games across Division 1 and Division 2 play to help finish off a busy week that will conclude on Sunday when Fort Hays Tech Northwest takes on McCook Community College in non-conference action.
