Cowley Moves Back Into NJCAA D2 Softball Rankings, Giving KJCCC Three Teams Ranked Or Receiving Votes
NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 10 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – As the 2026 regular season comes to a close this weekend, the latest NJCAA Division 2 Softball Top 25 poll has been released and features three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams either ranked or receiving votes.
The week 10 poll features three KJCCC teams ranked or receiving votes for the first time in nearly two months, as Cowley rejoins Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College in the poll for the first time since March 9th, when the same three teams were featured from the league. Things have tightened up atop the KJCCC D2 softball standings as teams have between two and six conference games remaining, as teams try to solidify their NJCAA D2 Softball Plains District Tournament seeding. Suffering their first conference losses of the season with doubleheader splits against Neosho County and Allen, Johnson County remains the highest-ranked KJCCC team with the number 15 ranking in the latest poll as the Cavaliers can clinch an outright KJCCC D2 softball regular season title and top seed in next week’s district tournament with a win in one of their final two games of the regular season on Saturday. After dropping their first game of the week to snap an eight-game winning streak, Cowley responded by winning each of the final three games of their week, which included a home sweep over Kansas City Kansas to improve and overtake second in the KJCCC D2 softball standings. KCKCC, meanwhile, picked up two wins last week in doubleheaders splits with Metropolitan Community College and Labette, to remain among a group of six teams receiving votes this week.
Conference action is spread throughout the week in both Division 1 and Division 2 play as teams are required to have their conference schedule completed by Sunday, May 3rd. Two conference doubleheaders are part of a six-game slate on Monday, followed by another four games taking place with Highland hosting Coffeyville and Cowley hosting Neosho County. Wednesday will see eight of nine KJCCC D1 softball teams in action for conference doubleheaders before seeing Thursday features 10 games across the D2 softball teams. The weekend will conclude with 18 games spread across Friday and Saturday, with tournament seeding for both the NJCAA D1 Plains District and NJCAA D2 Plains District softball tournaments announced following the conclusion of regular season play.
