KJCCC Softball Schools Remain Status Quo In Week Three NJCAA D2 Softball Poll
NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 3 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – After seeing changes occur for multiple Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams in last week’s NJCAA Division 2 Softball top 25 poll, the latest poll sees minor movement for Johnson County Community College, while Kansas City Kansas, and Cowley are unchanged from last week’s rankings in the newest poll released on Monday, March 9th.
The latest rankings mark the second-straight week that the KJCCC has two teams ranked and a third receiving votes as non-conference play continues to take the forefront of the schedule, with conference play still two weeks away from starting up for all 10 KJCCC Division 2 softball programs.
The highest-ranked team from the KJCCC, Johnson County was the lone team to see a change week-over-week in their ranking as the Cavaliers turned in a 3-1 weekend in Branson, Missouri to move up two spots from number 13 up to number 11 after seeing their lone loss come to number 17-ranked Parkland College. JCCC responded from a 4-1 loss to the Cobras by knocking off number eight Des Moines Area Community College, followed by wins over Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and Southwestern Illinois to improve to 8-4 on the season. Playing just twice last week and sweeping a home doubleheader over North Central Missouri College, Kansas City Kansas remains ranked number 25 this week while Cowley College remains among a group of six schools receiving votes in the week three poll following a 3-3 week last week, which included ranked wins over Parkland and North Iowa Area Community College.
This week’s action kicks off on Monday with six doubleheaders taking place across the KJCCC D1 and D2 landscape, followed by another five doubleheaders on Tuesday which includes a doubleheader between Johnson County and North Iowa Area Community College in a ranked battle in Overland Park. The busy week continues the rest of the way, with 14 games scheduled for Wednesday, eight on Thursday, 18 more games on Friday, and 14 games scheduled for Saturday before seeing the week conclude with Independence and Neosho County both playing non-conference doubleheaders on Sunday.
