NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 2 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With the release of the first NJCAA Softball polls for the month of March, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has two teams holding rankings and a third receiving votes in the newest NJCAA Division 2 Softball Top 25 poll released on Monday, March 2nd.
All three teams that are ranked or receiving votes were also featured in the preseason and week 1 polls released by the NJCAA earlier this season, as schools continue to get their seasons started with non-conference play against marquee opponents.
Teams in the rankings continue to have a wide variance in number of games played after the opening six weeks of the season, with Johnson County the highest ranked KJCCC team by holding the number 13 ranking after winning two games over previously ranked Iowa Central Community College before splitting a pair of games against NJCAA Division 1 McCook Community College who is receiving votes in this week’s Division 1 top 25 poll. Holding onto a top 25 ranking by being ranked 25th this week is Kansas City Kansas after the Blue Devils played six games last week to open their 2026 campaign, splitting their six games against Iowa Central (1-1), Northeast Community College (2-0), and McCook (0-2). Just outside the top 25 is Cowley College as the Tigers picked up a home sweep of Pratt Community College before dropping doubleheaders to North Central Texas College and NJCAA Division 2 top-ranked Murray State College over the weekend.
Three KJCCC softball teams kick off the week’s action today as Cowley and Barton face off in a non-conference doubleheader, while Fort Hays Tech Northwest plays host to McCook to begin another busy week of play. An additional 64 games are scheduled to take place between Tuesday and Sunday, including the start of KJCCC Division 1 play when Pratt travels to Seward County, Garden City hosts Colby, and Butler travels to Hutchinson to kick off the conference schedule.
