KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 12
COLBY, Kan. – Finishing off their fourth Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 softball regular season title in the past five seasons with a sweep of Independence, Cavalier players Katie Kolarik and Kyleigh Whitehurst have earned the final KJCCC D2 Softball Player of the Week awards of the 2026 season.
Katie Kolarik – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Behind a dominant offensive display and a standout day from sophomore Katie Kolarik, the Cavaliers rolled to a 13-0 victory in the opener before erupting for a 23-4 win in the nightcap to clinch the KJCCC D2 title in emphatic fashion. Kolarik led the charge in the opener, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and three runs scored as part of the offensive outburst. Across the two games, Kolarik was six-for-eight with two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored, and eight driven in.
Kyleigh Whitehurst – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
In the circle, Kyleigh Whitehurst was nearly untouchable, striking out eight and allowing just one hit over five shutout innings to secure the victory in the opening game of a doubleheader sweep over Independence. With the win, Whitehurst improved to 17-4 on the season while upping her strikeout total to 102.
