KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 8
COLBY, Kan. – For the first time this season, both Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Players of the Week are repeat winners from earlier this season as Hutchinson’s Riley Dreher and Dodge City’s Avery McCloskey have picked up week eight honors.
Riley Dreher - Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Blue Dragon shortstop Riley Dreher extended her hitting streak to eight games as the Blue Dragons went 3-1 in a pair of KJCCC doubleheaders last week. Dreher hit .600 (nine for 15) with three doubles, two home runs, and four RBI from the leadoff position. The sophomore had an on-base percentage of .647 and scored nine runs. Three of Dreher's four games were multi-hit games, including a four-for-four performance with a double, home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in a 14-12 win over Garden City. Dreher had multi-hit games in Game two at Garden City and Game one against Dodge City and is now second in the KJCCC in batting average with a .495 average.
Avery McCloskey – Dodge City (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Dodge City picked up a big win on the road against Hutchinson, and Avery McCloskey was key in the win. The freshman tossed a complete game, giving up just one run on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven. McCloskey also had a solid outing against Butler, throwing five innings and striking out seven.
