COLBY, Kan. – The start of conference play and big weeks for Colby Community College’s Briley Christensen and Hutchinson’s Mia Williams have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Player of the Week awards for the duo for the first time this season.
Briley Christensen – Colby (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Christensen put together a massive six-game stretch that helped power the Trojan offense last week, going nine-for-12 at the plate and driving in 11 runs, scoring nine times, and recording five extra-base hits. The sophomore's big week also produced a 1.667 slugging percentage and a .762 on-base percentage as she consistently reached base and created scoring opportunities. Christenson’s standout performances included a three-for-three game with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored in a win over Garden City. She continued her strong play against Northeastern with four hits across the doubleheader, including a double and a home run. She capped off the week against Fort Hays Tech Northwest with another home run and five RBIs in the doubleheader as the Trojans secured a pair of victories. Christenson finished the week reaching base 16 times in 22 plate appearances while not striking out once, highlighting one of the most productive offensive weeks of the season for the Trojans.
