KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 5
COLBY, Kan. – A monster week at the plate for Barton Community College’s Carly Erpelding and a complete-game one-hitter from Butler Community College pitcher Anisityn Marcotte have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Player of the Week honors for the duo for the first time in their careers.
Carly Erpelding – Barton (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Carly Erpelding powered Barton to a pair of splits with a scorching .692 batting average while blasting two home runs and two doubles in addition to driving in six runs and scoring six more. The sophomore catcher posted a 1.308 slugging percentage and .688 on-base percentage, reaching base in 11 of 16 plate appearances, and was flawless defensively with 21 putouts and four assists without an error. Erpelding opened the week against Rose State College by batting .714 across the twin bill, collecting five hits with two extra-base knocks, including a home run, while driving five of Barton's nine runs. She followed with four more hits in six at-bats against Northeastern Junior College, adding two more extra-base hits, including her second home run of the week and another four RBI.
Anistyn Marcotte – Butler (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Butler sophomore Anistyn Marcotte tossed a complete-game one-hitter in a 2-1 Grizzly win at Labette last week. Marcotte struck out four in the win and also appeared in the second game of the doubleheader and tossed one inning, allowing no hits and adding one more strikeout to her total.
