Dodge City Softball Draws #20 Seed, To Face #13 Seed College Of Southern Idaho In Opening Game Of NJCAA D1 World Series

CHARLOTTE, NC – Winners of the 2026 NJCAA Division 1 Region 6 Plains District Softball Tournament to secure an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series, the Dodge City Community College softball team has earned the number 20 overall seed and will face off with number 13 seed College of Southern Idaho in their opening game of the tournament on Monday, May 25th at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.
Making their first trip to the NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series in program history, Dodge City is making its first NJCAA World Series appearance since 2002 after winning its third NJCAA Region 6 and district tournament title in program history.
Dodge City earned its way into the 20-team field after defeating Garden City 11-1 (5 innings), Butler 3-2, Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference regular-season champion Hutchinson 4-0, and Butler a second time by a score of 4-2 in a winner-take-all Plains District Championship game. Entering the World Series with a record of 46-17, the Conquistadors are taking the best single-season offensive production in school history into the national tournament, having broken records for hits, RBI, runs, walks, doubles, triples, and home runs. Dodge City ranks in the top 10 in NJCAA Division 1 softball in all the previously mentioned categories and is hitting .368 this season, averaging 10 hits per game and scoring 8.9 runs per game. In the pitching circle, DC3 has been strong throughout the season by boasting a team ERA of 3.22 while racking up 328 strikeouts and holding opponents to a batting average of .243.
First pitch between Dodge City and College of Southern Idaho is set for 12 PM (EDT) as the Golden Eagles were winners of the NJCAA Division 1 Softball Rocky Mountain District Title with an 8-7 win over number 17-ranked Salt Lake Community College. CSI is ranked number 19 in the final NJCAA Division 1 Softball top 25 poll of the regular season and holds a 41-11 overall record this season while entering the World Series on an 18-game winning streak. Nationally, College of Southern Idaho ranks 13th in NJCAA Division 1 in RBI (44), 17th in total runs scored (463), and 19th in walks (212). The Golden Eagles also rank in the top 15 in stolen bases (12th, 153) and batting average (13th, .374) while boasting the NJCAA Division 1 softball leader in stolen bases as sophomore Adi Hansen has swiped 60 bags this year.
