Pratt Wins Five Of Nine Region 6 Men's Tennis Titles To Claim 2026 Team Title

PRATT, Kan. – Claiming individual champions at three of six singles championships, along with two of three doubles champions, the Pratt Community College men’s tennis team won the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Men’s Tennis Championship at the Walter Blake Tennis Complex in Pratt, Kansas April 21 and 22.
Scoring 12.5 points across the two-day tournament, Pratt added two Region 6 runners-up at number one singles and number three singles to go along with a third-place finish at number three doubles to finish four points clear of Region 6 runners-up Cowley College, who finished with 8.5 points after having the number two singles champion and number three doubles champions. Finishing in third place was Seward County Community College with 6.5 points, while Barton Community College took fourth with four total team points.
Leading the way for the Beavers were singles champions Kenta Kawada (number four singles), Tiann Clark Nelson (number five singles), and Edward Westfall (number six singles), while seeing Kawada team up with Thiofhi Tshivhase at number two doubles for a region title, while Sam Dinneen and Kenneth Rabinad Vila earned the number one doubles region title. Pratt also had Daniel Blinov finish as Region 6 runner-up in number one singles, and Dinneen take second at number three singles, while the number three doubles team of Daniil Blinov and Edward Westfall took third at number three doubles.
Cowley’s runner-up finish came after Dan Hosono (number two singles) and the duo of Vaughn Smith and Guilherme Coelho (number three doubles) win NJCAA Region 6 titles while picking up region runner-up finishes at number two doubles (Wojtek Biela/Luca Laurindo) and number three one doubles (Haruki Okude/ Dan Hosono) and a third-place finish at number one singles (Okude), number three singles (Laurindo), and number six singles (Smith).
The lone remaining Region 6 champions came at number one singles as Seward County’s Gaspard Bicrel Bantegny earned a three-set victory over Pratt’s Blinov, as well as number three singles, where Saint Meryl Genevrier defeated Dinneen of Pratt in three sets. SCCC also had Juan Luzuriaga and Lucas Barriga (number three doubles) earn a region runner-up finish, while Barton saw three of their four team points come off region runner-up finishes from Raphael Ankrah (number two singles), Esi Molefe (number five singles), and Kristian Tesevic (number six singles).
As Region 6 team champions and Region 6 runners-up, both Pratt and Cowley have earned automatic berths into the 2026 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis Championships May 11-15 at the Collin College Tennis Facility in Plano, Texas. Last season, the Beavers finished fourth at the National Tournament with 32 total points, while Cowley took fifth with 31 points to help give the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference three of the top five teams, as Barton finished as NJCAA Runners-Up (33 points).
