Changes To Rankings Occur For Three of Five Ranked KJCCC Teams In Latest NJCAA Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Men's Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men's Soccer Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Just like the week prior, more movement and shakeups for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s soccer teams have occurred within the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Men’s Soccer top 20 polls released for week five on Tuesday, September 30th.
This week’s polls feature three ranked KJCCC Division 1 men’s soccer programs, along with two KJCCC Division 2 men’s soccer teams that are ranked while seeing three of the five ranked teams have a different ranking from last week.
Following a massive week that saw all three ranked KJCCC Division 1 men’s soccer teams face off against one of the other ranked teams, Cowley College moves up one spot to number three after taking control of the KJCCC D1 men’s soccer standings with a 2-1 win over Barton and 4-0 win over Dodge City to improve to 6-0-0. The Tigers are one of only four unbeaten teams in this week’s Division 1 rankings, and one of only two unbeaten teams that have not had a game end in a draw. Meanwhile, Barton Community College remains ranked number nine following a busy week that saw the Cougars drop their opening match of the week to Cowley before earning a 2-1 win over Otero and a 1-1 tie against Coffeyville. Also ranked is Dodge City as the Conquistadors suffered a three-spot drop down to number 15 following their first loss of the year to Cowley after starting the week with a 3-2 win at Seward County.
Unchanged in the NJCAA Division 2 men’s soccer top 20 poll, Neosho County continues to hold the number four ranking while remaining unbeaten with a 7-0-2 record. The Panthers had just one match last week, defeating Kansas City Kansas by a score of 2-0 to finish the first half of NJCAA Region 6/9 play with a 4-0-1 mark. Continuing to be ranked despite falling another two spots is Johnson County Community College, with the Cavaliers earning ties in both of their matches last week after earning a 2-2 draw with Southeast Community College before finishing the week with a 3-3 tie against Kansas City Kansas.
Looking at this week’s KJCCC men’s soccer schedule, Barton kicks things off with a Tuesday afternoon matchup at Western Nebraska Community College before seeing nine KJCCC teams in action across six matches on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Another six matches are on the schedule for Saturday, including a non-conference showdown between number three Cowley and number seven-ranked Indian Hills Community College while four of the other five matches will take place between conference teams.
