Dodge City's Rensho Ishikawa, Johnson County's Avery Young Named NJCAA Soccer Goalies of the Week
CHARLOTTE, NC – An upset win over a ranked foe for the Dodge City Community College men’s soccer team and two shutout victories for the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team have led to NJCAA Soccer Goalie of the Week honors for Rensho Ishikawa and Avery Young.
Rensho Ishikawa (Dodge City) – NJCAA D1 Men’s Soccer Goalie of the Week
Dodge City picked up a big win over number nine-ranked Indian Hills in a neutral-site contest with a 2-1 victory. Rensho Ishikawa played all 90 minutes in goal and made five critical saves to help the Conquistadors earn the upset victory. The win for Ishikawa in net moves his goalie record this year to 3-0-1, with 21 saves in 26 shots on goal.
Avery Young (Johnson County) – NJCAA D2 Women’s Soccer Goalie of the Week
JCCC sophomore goalkeeper Avery Young picked up two more shutouts last week with a 2-0 win at Highland and a 1-0 win at home against Neosho County. Young improved to 14-0-0 on the season. Nationally, Young ranks second in NJCAA Division 2 in save percentage (.949) and fourth in both goals against (3) and goals-against average (0.25).
