Defending KJCCC Champion Neosho County Picked To Defend KJCCC D2 Men's Soccer Title
COLBY, Kan. – Following a NJCAA D2 Men’s Soccer Plains District Tournament title and a run to the 2024 NJCAA D2 Men’s Soccer National Championship game, defending Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference D2 Men’s Soccer champions Neosho County Community College has been picked to defend their regular season crown in 2025.
Receiving 20 total points and four of five first-place votes, the Panthers are coming off a historic 2024 campaign that saw NCCC go 20-2-2 overall with their only losses coming in neutral-site contests to 2023 National Champion Iowa Lakes Community College and in the 2024 National Championship game against Northeast Community College. Neosho County is once again led by fifth-year head coach Elliot Chadderton as the Panthers have won three consecutive KJCCC titles and back-to-back NJCAA Region 6 championships.
Picked to finish second in the conference was Johnson County with the Cavaliers receiving the lone remaining first-place vote and 17 total points after spending much of last season ranked in the top-10 of the NJCAA Division 2 Top-20 poll. JCCC is coming off a 14-4 year which saw the Cavaliers have three of their four defeats come at the hands of Neosho County along with a loss to Iowa Lakes while outscoring opponents 66-26. The remaining three teams in the preseason order of finish poll all finished tied for third in the vote among the five league coaches, with Allen, Kansas City Kansas, and Pratt all receiving 11 total points. This season will be the first at the NJCAA Division 2 level for Kansas City Kansas while Allen will be under the guidance of first-year head coach Gefte Blanc.
Kicking off the 2025 regular season for the league is Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils will travel to Triton College on Thursday, August 21st to open the season against the Trojans. The following day will see Pratt open their season at Rose State College, Noehso County play Patrick & Henry Community College, Allen travel to Dallas College Mountain View, and Johnson County take on Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in their respective season openers. NJCAA Region 6/9 play will start on Saturday, September 6th with a pair of games as Allen will play Neosho County and Kansas City Kansas will host Southeast Community College out of NJCAA Region 9. The 10 game Region schedule will set up the postseason which will see the top four teams make the postseason tournament with the Region 6/9 Champion traveling to the winner of NJCAA Region 11 in the 2025 NJCAA D2 Men’s Soccer Plains District Championship game.
