Three KJCCC Men's Golfers Earn NJCAA All-America Honors, Hutchinson Finishes Fourth As Team

NEWTON, Kan. – Three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s golf individuals have earned NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf All-America honors after earning top 18 finishes at the 2026 NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf National Championship Meet held at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas, May 12-15.
Hutchinson Community College, Garden City Community College, and Dodge City Community College all represented the conference at the four-day, 72-hole meet, with the Blue Dragons finishing fourth in the team scoring with a four-round total of 1,185 (+33) to finish five shots out of a top-three finish and just 13 shots back of 2026 National Champion McLennan Community College. The Highlanders (1,172) outlasted Indian Hills Community College (1,173) to win by one stroke over the Warriors, while Odessa Community College took third with a four-round total of 1,180. Also in the team scoring, Garden City Community College finished in 13th place with a score of 1,226, while Dodge City finished tied for 17th with New Mexico Military Institute (1,246).
The highest-finishing individual golfer from the KJCCC among the 120-player field was Hutchinson’s Grant Hatzenbuehler, who overcame an opening round 78 (+6) to card each of his final three rounds under par to finish the tournament even par (288) to finish in third place and four shots behind individual National Champion Abe Bignell of McLennan. Hatzenbuehler played the final 25 holes of the tournament seven under par on the 7,359, Par-72 course to climb his way up the leaderboard and earn first-team NJCAA All-American honors by finishing among the top six and ties.
Earning a seventh-place finish to earn second-team NJCAA All-American honors was Blue Dragon Hugo Duquaine, as the freshman opened with rounds of 72 and 75 before closing out the final two days of the tournament with rounds of 76 and 70 to finish with a total of 293 (+5) to finish in a tie with Odessa’s Jule De Brauwere. Joining Hatzenbuehler and Duquaine with third-team NJCAA All-America honors was Garden City’s Ilan Dufrenoy, who finished with a 72-hole total of 300 (+12) to earn All-America status for the second-straight season. Dufrenoy struggled on the opening day with a round of 80 (+8) before shooting rounds of 69, 74, and 77 over the final three days of competition to make a 28-spot improvement on the final day of action and finish in a tie with four other golfers.
