New Year Leads To More Changes Across NJCAA Men's Basketball Rankings For KJCCC Schools
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 7 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 7 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Picking back up where things left off to end 2025, the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 top 25 polls have plenty of changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools with seven teams either ranked or receiving votes in the first polls of 2026.
Only two teams from the KJCCC in this week’s polls were able to hold the same ranking that they ended 2025 with, as three teams that were not listed as part of the week six poll now find themselves back in the mix for week seven.
Needing overtime to pull out a 92-87 road win at Southeast Community College this past Sunday to improve to 14-0, Johnson County Community College remains the lone ranked KJCCC team in the NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll by maintaining their number three ranking. The Cavaliers are now just one of two unbeaten teams remaining in the NJCAA Division 2 rankings, trailing only top-ranked Palm Beach State College (19-1) and Des Moines Area Community College (14-1) in this week’s rankings.
The shuffling of KJCCC teams in the latest NJCAA Division 1 top-25 poll was in full force coming out of the holiday break as Coffeyville Community College was the only team of the six that are currently ranked or receiving votes from the conference in the poll to not be given a new ranking as the Red Ravens picked up an 84-73 home win in their non-conference final to stay at number 18 in the rankings. Back into the rankings and checking in at number 19 this week, Dodge City survived a 76-74 home win over Fort Hays Tech Northwest to move into a tie for first-place in the KJCCC standings at 10-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Also ranked this week is Cowley College, with the Tigers ranked number 24 after dropping an 83-82 road game at Garden City which allowed the Broncbusters to become one of three teams from the conference to be receiving votes this week. Also receiving votes is Barton and Butler, after the Cougars knocked off the Grizzlies 118-113 in Great Bend in their first game back from an extended holiday layoff.
Action across the conference resumes on Wednesday evening when nine games are set to take place, including a top-10 battle in the Division 2 ranks when number three Johnson County hosts number 10 North Central Missouri College. Other games of night as part of a loaded Wednesday slate is number 24 Cowley traveling to Butler, number 19 Dodge City hosting Garden City, number 18 Coffeyville on the road at Hutchinson, and Barton traveling to conference co-leader and the biggest surprise at the midway point in Independence. A single game taking place Friday night featuring Fort Scott will then make way for eight more games on Saturday which will be highlighted by a matchup between number 19 Dodge City and Butler.
