Final NJCAA Men's Basketball Polls Of January Feature Four KJCCC Teams
CHARLOTTE, NC – With just over a month remaining in the NJCAA Basketball regular season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has four teams ranked in the week 10 NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Men’s Basketball Top 25 polls.
Following a week that featured games spread throughout multiple days due to weather postponements, there is still little separation between the top teams in the league and the rest of the league as teams enter the final 10-game stretch of the regular season and begin to make their move for seeding for the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Men’s Basketball Tournaments.
The only team not to see their ranking change from the KJCCC last week was Johnson County as the Cavaliers are still ranked number three in the latest NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Top 25 poll while holding an unblemished 20-0 record. JCCC had little trouble getting past Labette at home last Wednesday in a 105-74 win before playing at Fort Scott on Monday night where the Cavaliers won 91-66 over the Greyhounds. Johnson County will face another road game on Wednesday night before closing out the first round of home-and-home play within KJCCC Division 2 when they play host to Allen on Saturday afternoon.
Another week of play has concluded with still no separation occurring within the KJCCC D1 men’s basketball standings as the top four teams in the standings are all within a game of each other, while the next six teams are all within two games of second place in what has been a season of results being based on which teams match up the best with others. Managing to avoid a loss last week, Butler Community College has reclaimed the top spot in the KJCCC standings following a home win over Coffeyville and road win at Hutchinson to move from number 25 in the rankings back up to number 19 as the highest-ranked KJCCC teams. After ascending to the number 15 ranking last week, Dodge City is back down to the number 22 ranking following a home loss to Barton and a road loss to Cowley to sit at 13-7 overall with 10 games left in the regular season. Earning a double overtime win at home to open their week before falling on the road at Colby, Seward County also remains ranked this week by holding the number 25 ranking with a 14-6 overall record.
Action resumes this week with nine games scheduled for Wednesday night highlighted by Seward County making the trek east to Coffeyville in another matchup that has the potential to shake up the KJCCC standings. Saturday’s slate is three of the four ranked teams all look to defend their home court as Dodge City will host Cloud County, Johnson County will host Allen, and Seward County will host Hutchinson in battles, while Butler heads out to Goodland to take on Fort Hays Tech Northwest.
