Latest NJCAA Men's Basketball Rankings Features Five KJCCC D1 Teams, One KJCCC D2 Team
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 6 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 6 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Through six weeks of action, the one consistent thing to take place for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools is the shakeup that has once again occurred within the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 men’s basketball top 25 polls as four teams will hold rankings with two more receiving votes in the final polls of 2025.
In what has become the case week in and week out, teams that find themselves ranked have been tripped up by conference foes since the start of KJCCC play back on November 19th, as no team has been able to separate themselves from the pack after eight games. Heading into the holiday break for Division 1 teams, five teams are within half a game of each other for the conference lead, while one more sits just one game back of the conference lead, as no team has fewer than two losses within conference play.
Only one KJCCC team is ranked in this week’s NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll, with Johnson County maintaining their number three ranking after jumping out to a 13-0 start which included wins over Sterling College JV and Metropolitan Community College last week to finish their pre-Christmas portion of their schedule. Including JCCC, only four teams in the latest NJCAA Division 2 rankings are unbeaten, with the Cavaliers the highest ranked of the four.
Things have gotten no less complicated for KJCCC schools in the latest NJCAA D1 rankings, with Coffeyville back to being the highest-ranked team from the conference after earning a come-from-behind road win at Cloud County followed by a home win over Colby last week to move up four spots from number 22 up to number 18 in this week’s poll. Just one spot back of the Red Ravens is Butler Community College, who split games last week with a win over Independence before falling 130-110 at Seward County. Adding to the conference logjam in the rankings is Cowley College at number 20 following the Tigers splitting their two games last week by handling Pratt 86-68 before falling 70-57 at home to Fort Hays Tech Northwest. Surprise KJCCC leader Seward County, who has reeled off five straight wins to move to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the KJCCC is now receiving votes after coming back from 21 points down at Garden City to win 92-90 before knocking off previous conference leading Butler at home. Also receiving votes this week is Dodge City as the Conquistadors dropped a home game to Hutchinson before bouncing back with a road win at Pratt to finish their first half of the season with a 9-4 overall record.
For as wild as the first six weeks of play has been throughout the league, things come to a grinding halt this week as Kansas City Kansas will host Marshalltown Community College in the one and only game scheduled to be played this week while the other conference schools have all started their holiday breaks. Following the KCKCC game on Monday night, all teams will take a break from action until Saturday, January 3rd when action resumes with a seven-game slate to resume play.
