2025-26 KJCCC Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 6
COLBY, Kan. – For the first time this season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards have been earned by repeat winners as Dodge City’s Derrick Rivers and Kansas City Kansas’s Anthony Leonard have both picked up their second honors of the season.
Derrick Rivers – Dodge City (KJCCC Division 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Dodge City put together a 2-0 week as the Conquistador men earned wins over Colby at home and number 10 Coffeyville on the road to improve to 8-3 this season. Derrick Rivers continued his spectacular season, starting off with 24 points on seven-of-15 shooting while adding five assists, four rebounds, and two steals in an 86-79 win over Colby. The sophomore wrapped up the week with his fourth 30-plus point performance by scoring 32 points on 10-of-19 shooting and going a perfect nine-for-nine at the free throw line against number 10 Coffeyville. Rivers added three assists and two steals in win over the Red Ravens and now leads the KJCCC in scoring average by averaging 24.0 points per contest while getting DC3 into the NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball top 25 poll for the first time in over two years.
Anthony Leonard – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Anthony Leonard led Kansas City Kansas to a 1-1 week, with the Blue Devils dropping an 80-58 decision at Southeast Community College before bouncing back with an 80-77 win at Metropolitan Community College. Leonard finished the week with 26 points in the two games that KCKCC played, including a team-high 20 points in the win over MCC. For the week, Leonard shot 43.8 percent from the field with six rebounds while recording three steals defensively.
