KJCCC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 1
Players from Hutchinson, Butler and Coffeyville earned KJCCC Football Players of the Week honors for the opening week of the 2022 football season.
The Offensive Player of the Week was Hutchinson's Dylan Laible. Butler linebacker Norman Massey was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Coffeyville punter Owen Lawson earned Special Teams Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Dylan Laible, Hutchinson
Laible threw for five touchdowns to lead the No. 3-ranked Blue Dragons to a 42-0 season-opening victory over No. 13 Navarro on Saturday in Hutchinson.
Laible completed 13 of 18 passes for 278 yards in playing the entire first half and one series of the third quarter. He threw touchdown passes of 50, 48, 15, 90 and 18 yards to three different receivers as Hutchinson opened a 35-0 lead by halftime.
Laible now has five games with five or more touchdown passes in his Blue Dragon career and he's now No. 3 on the Blue Dragon career passing chart with 3,921 yards.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Norman Massey, Butler
Massey, a sophomore linebacker from Wichita, anchored the Butler defense Saturday night in the Grizzlies 35-28 victory over No. 7 Garden City.
Massey led the team in tackles with eight, seven solo and an assisted tackle. Massey also came up with a an important quarterback sack on a big third down where he chased down the quarterback for a loss of 11-yards.
Massey and the Butler defense held Garden City to just 3 of 11 on third downs on the night.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Owen Lawson, Coffeyville
Lawson. the Red Ravens' sophomore punter, was instrumental in pinning Highland deep in their territory throughout a 37-0 Coffeyville victory.
Lawson punted seven times in the game for a solid game average of 42.4 yards per punt and aptly angled 4 of his 7 punts inside the 20-yard line. Lawson's four punts inside the 20 were downed at the 2,6,12, and 11-yard lines.
