DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Daishon Folsom, Hutchinson
Blue Dragon defensive lineman Daishon Folsom was a force as No. 1 Hutchinson made life miserable for Garden City's offense in a 23-7 victory over the No. 3 Broncbusters. Overall, the Dragons had five quarterback sacks and eight more quarterback hurries. Folsom had eight total tackles, five were solo stops. Folsom had three tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks and two other quarterback hurries to power the Dragon defense.
Others Nominated: Nickendre Stiger, Butler; CJ Welch, Independence
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caleb Brickhouse, Hutchinson
Hutchinson Community College Community College freshman punter Caleb Brickhouse averaged 30.5 yards on six punts in No. 1 Hutchinson's 23-7 win over No. 3 Garden City. That punt average doesn't tell Brickhouse's entire story. For two quarters, Brickhouse had to put into a gusty 25 mph house wind – the game saw a minus 24-yard run in the game because of the wind. Brickhouse had key 40-yard punt into that wind that turned the field over with the Blue Dragons owning only a 17-7 lead. Those 30.5 yards were a net punting average.
Others Nominated: None
