KJCCC Baseball West Division Players of the Week - Week 14
COLBY, Kan. – Helping lead the Cloud County baseball team to a series sweep and the first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division title in program history, T-Bird players Kellan Burke and Cohen Nelson have each been named the KJCCC West Division Baseball Players of the Week.
Kellan Burke – Cloud County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week)
Cloud County freshman Kellan Burke hit .444 last week with eight hits, including four home runs, eight runs scored, and 10 RBI in the team's four-game KJCCC sweep of Seward County. Burke went four-for-four and crushed three home runs in Cloud County's 10-0 run-rule victory over the Saints, clinching the team's eighth KJCCC series victory of the season. Burke had five extra-base hits in the series and is batting .401 on the year with 18 home runs.
Cohen Nelson – Cloud County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Cloud County sophomore Cohen Nelson improved to 5-0 on the season after guiding the T-Birds to a 10-0 run-rule victory over Seward County Community College on May 2. Nelson went 4.2 innings, allowing no runs on three hits with one walk while striking out 10. Nelson now has three double-digit strikeout games in KJCCC play and currently leads the conference with a 1.14 ERA.
