KJCCC Baseball East Division Players of the Week - Week 13
COLBY, Kan. – A four-game series sweep for the Coffeyville Community College baseball team over Labette has led to Red Raven players Kyle Provence and Nicholas Westendorp both earning Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division Baseball Player of the Week honors.
Kyle Provence – Coffeyville (KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week)
Freshman shortstop Kyle Provence was dominant in the batter's box during a series sweep of Labette County, finishing the week with 11 total hits and 5 stolen bases. Provence hit .611 during the series, including a five-hit game in game two and a four-hit game in the series finale. The freshman is hitting .351 for the Ravens this season, including .439 in the month of April.
Nicholas Westendorp – Coffeyville (KJCCC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week)
Freshman pitcher Nicholas Westendorp tossed a gem for the Red Ravens in a 7-0 win over Labette, setting the tempo for a series sweep of the Cardinals. The right-hander went the distance in the game, allowing just three hits and striking out 11 batters in a seven-inning complete game. Westendorp now has 66 total strikeouts this season, which ranks fifth among all KJCCC Baseball East Division players.
