KJCCC East Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Week 12
KJCCC East Co-Players of the Week: Jeremy Rader – Johnson County Community College & Jeret Nelson – Fort Scott Community College
Johnson County sophomore third baseman Jeremy Rader batted .615 (8-for-13) last week, with a double, two home runs, three walks, seven runs scored and six RBI while helping lead the No. 6-ranked Cavaliers to a four-game sweep over Cowley, and secure first place in the conference standings with one series left to play. In JCCC's 11-10 win over the Tigers, Rader belted a three-run home run and a solo shot for his second multi-homer game of the season. For the season Rader is batting .417 (50-for-120) with 14 extra base hits and 38 RBI.
Last week, Fort Scott first baseman Jaret Nelson hit .529 (9-for-17) scoring 13 runs and knocking in eight. Nelson helped the Greyhounds go 5-0 on the week. His best day of the week was Saturday, where he went 5-for-8 with four doubles. He continued to be a mainstay in the middle of the Greyhounds order. He also played a flawless first base, fielding 1.000, with 24 putouts and three assists.
KJCCC East Pitcher of the Week: Gabe Nutter – Johnson County Community College
Johnson County sophomore right-hander Gabe Nutter hurled a one-hit shutout to help the Cavaliers clinch a four-game sweep over Cowley last week. He struck out seven batters to up his season total to 79 in 54.2 innings pitched, which ranks him third in the conference. He is also a perfect 6-0 on the hill.
