KJCCC West Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Week 7
KJCCC West Player of the Week: Andrew Detlefsen – Dodge City Community College
Dodge City baseball first the first time since 2017 has one back-to-back KJCCC series by taking three of four against Garden City improving to 6-2 in conference play. Andrew Detlefsen put his fingerprints all over the series with big numbers hitting .500 for the series going 7-14 with nine RBI, seven runs scored, a double, two triples, three home runs, and three walks. Six of his Seven hits were extra base hits in the series.
He opened the series with a 3-4 game at home with three runs scored, two RBI, a double, triple, and home run, finishing just a single away from the cycle. His two-run home run in series opener proved to be the difference coming late to help the Conquistadors win 11-10. Detlefsen he went 2-4 with two home runs, two runs scored, five RBI in game two of the series. He wrapped up the series with a 2-5 game with two runs scored, an RBI, a triple, a walk, and his first stole base of the season.
KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week: David Stuart – Barton Community College
David Stuart posted his best performances of the season Wednesday at Colby pitching his first collegiate complete game shutout. The Lawrence, KS native had the Trojans bats at bay surrendering three hits and holding Colby to just four base runners over seven innings while striking out seven. Earning the victory improving to 3-0 on the season Stuart currently holds an impressive 1.91 ERA over his 33-innings of work.
