KJCCC West Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Week 6
KJCCC West Player of the Week: Kolden Howerton - Cloud County Community College
Kolden Howerton had thrre mulit-hit games this past week as Cloud County would split a four-game series with Pratt to open KJCCC play. Recording CCCC's only two hits in game one of the series, Howerton would finish off the series opening doubleheader with a 4-for-5 effort that included two RBI and a stolen base. With the series shifting to Pratt the next day, Howerton would lead Cloud County with three hits and three runs in four at-bats while hitting his second home run of the year as part of a four-RBI effort. Drawing a walk as part of a 1-for-2 effort in game four, Howerton would end the weekend with a .714 batting average (10-for-14) with a .733 on-base percentage along with six RBI and four extra base hits.
KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week: Brian Luna Alvarez - Seward County Comunity College
Brian Luna Alvarez continues his success from the mound with a no-hittr in the series against Butler to help the Saints win 4-0. Alvarez had a career high 15 strikeouts in seven innings pitched in the no-hitter last Thursday to help the Saints split the series with Butler. Last week Alvarez was named the NJCAA national player of the week and continues to perform at the highest level with 44 strikeouts this season that leads the KJCCC. This season Alvarez has a 4-0 record and continues to be the ace for the Saints.
