Neosho’s Brautman, Cloud’s Dugan and Butler’s Hyde named Division I Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week
Neosho County sophomore Andrew Brautman hit 619 (13-for-21) with a double, triple, five home runs, 14 runs scored and 15 RBI. He was a major factor in helping the Panthers win four of five games last week.
Remaining tied atop the KJCCC in wins this season, freshman Kolby Dougan threw his third complete game of the year while striking out eight to lead Cloud County to a 5-2 win over Dodge City in their series opener on Thursday. Lowering his KJCCC-best ERA to 2.43, Dougan is the only qualified pitcher in the conference to have an ERA below 3 and also holds the conference lead in strikeouts with 88 which ranks 15th among all NJCAA Division I pitchers.
Braxton Hyde, freshman right hander from Liberal, KS, pitched a perfect game Saturday in the Grizzlies 14-0 (5-inning) run rule over Labette to sweep the series. Hyde retired all 15 batters he faced in the game while striking out eight of them. No hits, no runs, no walks, no hit by pitch for Hyde. The first perfect game thrown in recent history for the Grizzlies.
