Dodge City’s Schmidt and Cloud’s Dougan named Division I Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week
Kory Schmidt had a monster week for the Conquistadors as they went 5-0 for the week. Schmidt went 10-15 with four home runs, six walks, and only three strikeouts. He led the Conqs for the week with 13 runs scored and 11 RBIs.
Kolby Dougan once again showed that no moment has been too big for the freshman in the opening month of the season as the Topeka, Kansas native led Cloud County to a series opening win over #10 Cowley on Thursday afternoon. Getting the start against an undefeated Tiger squad that entered the game averaging 20.5 runs per contest, Dougan shut down Cowley to allow just one run on four hits in five innings of work as the T-Birds rolled to a 12-3 series opening win. The victory would set the tone for Cloud County for the rest of the weekend as CCCC would split a four-game series with the Tigers.
