Four KJCCC Stars Suit Up for NJCAA National Team
(Roy Allen) Four KJCCC baseball players will don the red, white, and blue later this month, suiting up for the NJCAA National Team at the NBC World Series in Wichita.
Leading the way for the National Team will be NJCAA Division I Player of the Year Brylie Ware of Neosho County. Ware put up video game like numbers for the Panthers this season, leading the Jayhawk Conference and the NJCAA in both batting average at .560 and RBI's with 125 while finishing second in the country to fellow KJCCC slugger Caden Doga of Hutchinson with 29 home runs.
Joining Ware, will be Neosho teammate Ryan Toliver who's .493 batting average and 103 RBI's this season was good for second in the league. At seasons end, Toliver was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American.
Cowley ace Carson LaRue will help anchor the National Team pitching staff. LaRue finished in the top two in all three major pitching stat categories in the KJCCC this season, leading the league with 11 wins while finishing second in ERA at 2.46 and strikeouts with 133. LaRue was an Honorable Mention All-American selection and followed that up as a 14th round draft pick of the Houston Astros.
Rounding out the four KJCCC players selected to the team is the lone representative from the Jayhawk West, Colby's Marvin Malone. Malone had one of the best seasons in school history for the Trojans, leading the West in batting average at .473 and RBI's with 101 while finishing third in long balls with 19 on the year. Malone was named the Jayhawk West Most Valuable Player for the league champ Trojans and was also named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American.
The four Sunflower State standouts will join a cast of 22 other NJCAA stars to take on some of the best players in the country at the annual NBC World Series starting July 29th at Wichita's Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
