2017 KJCCC Baseball Players of the Week, Week 10
Freshman left-fielder Bobby Morgensen led a tremendous offensive onslaught as No. 9 Hutchinson swept Garden City over the weekend to improve to 23 games over .500. For the series, Morgensen was 11 for 16 (.688) with a .722 on-base percentage and 1,250 slugging percentage. He had multiple hits in 3 of the 4 games and hit safely in all four. Morgensen has huge hits for the Dragons all weekend. In Game 1 of the series, he had a go-ahead double in the top of the ninth and later hit a three-run home run in what became an 10-run inning of Hutch's 24-14 victory. Morgensen had a big two-run double that gave the Dragons a 4-3 lead in Game 3. He added three more RBIs in the series finale. Morgensen is hitting .385 and has a Jayhawk Conference leading 70 RBIs.
JCCC sophomore right-hander Brendan Stanek pitched a complete game two-hit shutout with six strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Allen last week. It was his fifth complete game of the year, and third shutout. He also lowered his nation leading ERA to 0.67 while upping his record to 7-0.
